Female
Faces of Philanthropy:
Candace Grogan

As
she departs from the Women's Foundation Board of Trustees, Chair Candace Grogan
leaves a legacy of philanthropic leadership. Elected to the Board six years
ago, Cande has served two terms on the Board, and has been the Chair since January
2004. During her tenure, she has given generously of her time, talents, and
resources, and has served as a role model for new Board members.
Cande believes strongly in the Foundation's mission. "It has been very
rewarding for me to see the impact our grant-making has had on the community,
improving the lives of women and girls by expanding educational opportunities,
improving access to health care and providing tools toward achieving economic
justice. The goal of the foundation is to create social change through innovative
programming for women and girls and it is gratifying to know that we have made
a difference over the past twelve years."
Cande has lived in Tucson for over 26 years, and was a successful caterer and
restaurateur before retiring as the owner of Ovens in 2004. She has served on
a number of boards and volunteered with a variety of non-profit organizations,
including the Dance Board of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Arizona,
Friends of the Arizona Cancer Center, Planned Parenthood and the Invisible Theatre.
Although Cande is leaving the Board, she will continue to be involved in the
Foundation's work through her involvement in the Trusteeship committee, which
identifies and recruits new Board members.
